Project details:

The project comprised design and build of a student accommodation development with 310 bedrooms, in a single building segregated into four blocks, located on a busy main road in greater London. Blocks A through C are four-stories and Block D is six-stories. Facilities include an on-site laundry, bicycle storage for 146 bikes, a shell-only gym and communal lounge. The accommodation totals 293 en-suite rooms and 17 DDA-compliant en-suite rooms. The studio apartments are self-contained with en-suite shower/WC and kitchenette. Single rooms are within central clusters of seven, with access to common lounges and kitchen/dining rooms. The building is piled and strip foundations with a combination of hot and cold rolled Metsec steel frames, clad in brickwork, with a green sedum roof. Midas completed full fit out including first fix, containment, furniture, fixtures and fittings, edging and plumbing, dry-ling and provision of a show flat for marketing purposes. The project is targeting BREEAM Excellent and the site received a CCS Performance Beyond Compliance certificate, issued to the site manager


The site employed four apprentices: a trainee quantity surveyor; a trainee assistant quantity surveyor; a trainee managing quantity surveyor; and a trainee site manager.
