Project Detail

This was a new build store, constructed on the junction of Herbert and Homer road which is just off the high street in Solihull. It lies adjacent to the existing Touchwood Centre, which is a major shopping venue in the area and contains a John Lewis store, thus completing the full offer from the John Lewis Group.

The store is of a core store format with gross floor area of 28.500sqft gross and 18.655sqft sales area. The sales area, loading, bays and back of house facilities all lie at ground floor level. A new multilevel car park has been constructed adjacent to the store, and access from this is facilitated via two customer lifts. The roof top car park also incorporates a plant area for the store, which has been sensitively shielded with louver screens. The fit out comprised of a full mechanical and electrical installation, deli-counters-customer café, staff back of house facility, refrigeration system and cabinets, ambient shelving, checkouts, and fit out associated equipment.  The site features a sushi bar, the first for Waitrose.

Midas construction team consisted of 100 workers and the completed store employed approximately 250 colleagues from the local area and achieved two Considerate contractor Scheme (CCS) scores of 41/50.
