Work starts on a new Next store for Gloucester

Midas Retail has started work on a new Next retail store in Gloucester.

The new store is being built in Gloucester Retail Park, known locally as the Peel Centre, opposite Gloucester Quays and close to the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal which lies directly to the west of the site.

Initial site preparation works are already under way on the £3.4 million project which will see Midas Retail, part of the Midas Group, construct the store shell, scheduled to be completed in October, ready for the Next fit-out stage of development.

The building is being delivered on behalf of Peel Retail Developments Limited, part of Peel Land and Property, and has been designed by architects Chapman Taylor LLC.

David Rowe, Midas Retail Director, said: “We are delighted to be working with Peel Retail Developments Limited on this exciting project right in the heart of Gloucester.

“It is about delivering a high-quality scheme which will contribute to an improved retail offer for Gloucester which is great news for the city.”

In addition to the new store, the project includes refurbishment of the adjacent canal footpath, resurfacing the existing car park which surrounds the site and landscaping and drainage works.

Midas Retail operates nationally across a variety of food and non-food retail environments, delivering pioneering construction solutions on large and small-scale projects.

The company consistently delivers leading edge performance for clients such as Morrisons, Next, Waitrose and John Lewis. This reflects the wider Midas Group strategy to become the contractor of choice in the geographic and sector areas in which it operates, by developing long-term relationships through the delivery of its vision to be leaders in customer service and performance.

It is a strategy which is already showing success with more than 75% of the Group’s projects being carried out on a repeat business basis.
