New Operational Director for Midas Construction

A passion for promoting careers in construction, as well as the importance of mental health support for those within the industry, are among the aims of Midas Construction’s new Operational Director for Wessex, Wales and the West Midlands. 

Mark Wusthoff brings a wealth of industry experience to the role, including working with international contractors, across frameworks and with private clients. With more than two decades of experience within the sector, his strategic leadership is focused on maintaining and developing a sustainable business, successful teams and a strong client focus. 

His appointment with Midas strengthens the company’s senior management team as the organisation continues to look past the pandemic, forecasting a strong pipeline of projects and increased turnover. 

Before joining Midas, Mark was South West Area Director for construction firm Galliford Try. 

He said: “I am thrilled to be joining Midas. I believe that my passion for promoting long-lasting and rewarding careers in the industry, while supporting those already working within the sector, is a vision shared by Midas. I am thrilled to become a part of this trailblazing team and look forward to supporting the company as it continues to grow and thrive.”  

Alongside his employment experience, Mark is also involved with a number of industry organisations, aiming to welcome new generations as they look to embark on a career in the sector, as well as supporting those already forging a career in construction. He is a Fellow with The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and vice chair of the CIOB Bristol Hub, which promotes the personal and professional development of others as well as the importance of chartership and the professional qualification.  

He added: “I have a passion for the wide range of opportunities a career in the built environment can bring and as part of my role with the institute, I aim to improve quality in construction, sustainability and mental health awareness, which is essential to addressing the industry’s challenges. I am keen to develop the ethos of the CIOB Bristol Hub with my team at Midas Construction, supporting staff to achieve their potential within the construction industry.” 

Mark’s passion for delivering excellence is also supported by his involvement with Construction Excellence and in the past as a Council Member for the CITB. Mark has helped develop higher apprenticeship qualifications in Wales and has supported Coleg Sir Gar having served on the advisory committee for Curriculum and Standards focusing on young learners and promoting industry involvement with educational outcomes.
