Work starts on 100 new homes for Bodmin

The latest new homes project in Cornwall being delivered by Midas Group is under way, with the start of construction of 100 high quality homes on the edge of Bodmin.

The scheme, called Park Lanneves, is on the former St Lawrence’s Hospital site off Dunmere Road, and is being developed by Treveth, the partnership set up by Cornwall Council to build homes and commercial development to benefit people who live and work in Cornwall.

Mi-space, part of the Midas Group, is now on site and the first homes are expected to be available in the summer of 2022.

Most will be available as either private rented or affordable properties for people with links to the town. There will be two, three and four bedroomed houses and one bed apartments. Sixty-one homes will be for private rent, 30 affordable (made up of 20 affordable rent and 10 shared ownership, available to people on Cornwall Council’s Homechoice register) and nine for open market sale.

In line with Treveth’s ambition to work towards zero carbon development, its homes already meet many of the energy efficiency regulations due to come into force in 2025.

New homes include upgraded insulation, solar roof panels (where appropriate), to generate green electricity and non-fossil fuel heating using air source heat pumps, reducing energy costs for residents. For added peace of mind, all of Treveth’s new homes are fitted with a misting fire suppression system as standard. They also exceed current national minimum space standards across all types.

To encourage greener transport there will be a number of communal electric vehicle charging points at Park Lanneves, a new bus route and shelter, and a new footpath linking into existing cycleways. There will be new planting throughout the scheme and a new area of public open space.

Treveth, which is Cornish for ‘Homestead’, is delivering more than 600 homes over the next three years which in addition to Bodmin includes sites at Liskeard, where Mi-space began work in January, and upcoming schemes at Tolgus near Redruth, Newquay and Launceston.
